At the Cabela's Exhibit area there were many examples of animals we see in the outdoors including moose, wolf, turkeys and deer. Also available were many of the Cabela's Pro Staff that could help with bait casting, fishing, turkey calling and more! On hand was a fishing pond to catch live trout, a simulated shooting gallery and hunting and fishing video games.
The Forrest Wood Cup Championship fishing event was held on Lake Lanier near Atlanta, Georgia August 6 - 8, 2010. Cabela's was one of the sponsors of the event and had a nice exhibit for vistors to come and visit. Cabela's Pro Staff member were there to answer questions and help event visitors.
The Cabela's Pro Staff for Turkey Hunting held a Turkey Calling Contest for kids age 10 - 16. Hunting and fishing celebrities Jimmy Houston,
Harold Knight and Hank Parker were happy to step in and be our judges for the calling contest held in the seminar room. Jimmy and I were there to assist along with many of the parents.
The judges listened carefully to each contestant as they made 3 calls. The judges commented it was a close decision and that each caller did a great job! The contestant with the highest score was Danielle Worthen. She will be going on a guided turkey hunt and bass fishing day this spring with David Neck and Jimmy Whatley. The hunt is scheduled to be filmed and possibly used on national television.

Jimmy and I would also like to thank our judges Hank Parker, Harold Knight and Jimmy Houston for their help in this special event and all that they do to support the outdoors and our hunters and fishermen of tomorrow. I know this meant a lot to Hank, Jimmy and Harold to see these kids participating in a sport they all love, and I know the kids will always remember them for being there on this special day!
